5/01/2006 - WOW. A LOT OF THE INFO. BELOW IS REALLY OUT OF DATE (AT THIS POINT, IT IS PRACTICALLY LIES!). SORRY ABOUT THAT. BEAR WITH US... WE'RE UPDATING A.S.A.P.
THANKS! - Your pals at Foodchain Records

What ever happened to [insert band name here]?
Unfortunately, Betty Blowtorch is no longer a band. Blare is now fronting the Blare Bitch Project, while Judy and Sharon are in Stay at Home Bomb. Before you ask, yes, that is Judy in ads for Mapex (seen in Rockrgrl Magazine) and in Cheap Chick (one of her freelance drum gigs).

Debbie Diamond is still fronting the Januaries. In fact, they are in the studio recording demos as you read.

Liars Inc. was picked up by Columbia records, but unfortunately got caught in the web of a major label. Due to the piece of paper signed by Foodchain and Columbia, we are not allowed to sell copies of “Superjaded” in our store. However, the release is up on the iTunes store.

Is there anything else up on the iTunes store?

Right now you can not only get Liars Inc. (as mentioned above), but the rest of the catalog as well.

Isn't that Coyote guy in that movie?

Yes, Coyote Shivers was [character] in [movie]:

Stu / Girl in 3D
Levi / Down and Out with the Dolls
Berko / Empire Records
Buddy / Johnny Mnemonic

What is going on with the Betty Blowtorch documentary?

Betty Blowtorch and Her Amazing True Life Adventures has had a few screenings in Los Angeles, Florida and Australia and is being currently being shopped. Keep an eye on Anthony Scarpa’s site for the film for updates.

Why does the 2003 Foodchain Records Sampler repeat 3 times?

Multiple Choice:
A) It repeats 3 times?
B) We wanted to use as much space on the disc as we could get away with.
C) To make life more confusing for our listeners

Who does the cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” on the sampler?

Yes, this question does assume that everyone knows that track 16 is a cover of a Sabbath song. If you do not, please spend time looking them up on the net. I mean, not knowing Sabbath at this point of time is next to impossible, especially with MTV having Osbourne marathons whenever they are not airing Nick & Stinky Ass or the Real World. While you are at it, if you are on a music site looking up Sabbath and notice something about David Cross, send an email with a subject line of “All Hail David Cross” as the subject line. Sure, you could simply type in “All Hail David,” but we might think you are referring to Bowie.

Oh, the answer. It is by The Januaries from their “Chocolate and Strawberries” EP.

How do I get a copy of this sampler?

Click on Free Shit to get instructions.

What do you do with the information you collect on the “Free Shit” page?

We use it for our own database and, if you provide any Top 5 answers, to learn about any bands / magazines / sites that we may not be aware of but may be good for us to know. For example, Jason, our former intern, was the person who introduced us to ReadyMade magazine. True, it is not about music, but it is something that we enjoy reading issues of. We do NOT sell any of your information to other companies, nor do we trade your information for other mailing lists. However, if you say that you would do anything to help out with a particular band, we may pass along your info to people involved with street team duties for them. We may also send you updates for certain bands, for instance if there is a screening for the Betty Blowtorch documentary, we may send out an email to all Betty fans to let them know the information.

Are you going to release [insert title here]?

We have no legal rights to release

Betty Blowtorch – Get Off [but a majority of Get Off is on Last Call ]
Supagroup – Rock & Roll Tried to Ruin My Life
Supagroup - We Came to Rock You

We also do not have any copies to give to people who ask, not even for those who try to bribe us.

Who do I contact to book / review one of your bands?

Send an email to info@foodchainrecords.com and we will make sure that your request is sent to the appropriate person.

Do you accept demos?

Sorry, not at this time.

How do I become an intern?

What’s that you say? You want to work for free? Here is the deal: We can always use help with retail, college radio, press and art. We’re looking for 10 – 15 hours a week from anyone interested in the position in exchange for college credit. What does help in retail, college radio and press mean? Just that you will be spending a lot of time on the phone charming people into promoting our artists. What do you get out of it? In addition to the experience of working for “the industry,” you’ll get into shows by our bands for free (note: most play in 21+ venues), learn how to handle 15 tasks simultaneously and will, most important of all, be able to concentrate on the area that interests you the most. In other words, if you’re an expert at Illustrator, have done 15 sites for fun and design icons for LJ in your sleep, we’re not going to make you call retail unless you want to (or we just need the help in that area on a particular day).

Who designed your website?

This guy. Andrew Wilson.
